I create…
For me, “Creating” may be the impulse of my life, and maybe a way of connecting myself with the world. While creating spaces, arranging flowers, drawing pictures, and writing words, I can interact with nature, people, plants, and all living things, as well as light, wind, and sound, and connect my inner world with the outside world. I believe that I am living that way with burning my life while maintaining a balance with the world.
My first interest was in the plants and wildlife that cleverly live in nature. From there, I wanted to do something for the environment and wildlife issues. While studying ecology in college, I realized that these issues were ultimately problems of human society. And now, I am working as a landscape designer to create a better balance between people and nature through the creation of spaces. In recent years, I have also been working on art installation and so on.
Maybe what I create isn’t very consistent. However, in the various events and environments that I was born in this era and encountering during my life, I would like to express what my heart has absorbed at that time, no matter how small it may be. I would be more than happy if my work touches someone’s heart and helps make the world a better place to live.

– Artist Statement –
Our existence is nothing more than a momentary blink of life accumulated in this space at this moment in the eternal flow of time in nature. However, each life has a “heart” that can think and feel, and we can be moved by the sight of a single flower falling, cross various boundaries through our hearts, and reconnect with the world beyond ourselves. saiho + Sayuri Hayashi Egnell creates installations and artwork using natural elements such as light, sound, water, air, flowers, and plants as motifs and materials to evoke the experiences, memories, emotions, and sensations of each viewer. We are creating artwork that touches the abyss of the heart and provides an experience that crosses various boundaries and connects with the world.
